FIELD: welding.

SUBSTANCE: device for arc welding with coated electrodes used when performing repair work on magnetized pipelines with alternating and direct current. The device consists of a welding current source, a current inverter, a control unit, an electrode, a power switch and a relay with two break contacts. The plus and minus input terminals of the current inverter are connected to the corresponding plus and minus output terminals of the welding power source. The output terminals “electrode” and “product” of the current inverter are connected to the electrode and the product. One NC contact is connected to the “plus” and “electrode” terminals of the current inverter, and the other NC contact is connected to the “minus” and “product” terminals of the current inverter. One output of the control unit is connected to the input of the current inverter. A relay is connected to the other two outputs of the control unit, and a power switch is connected to the input of the control unit.

EFFECT: improving the quality of welding with coated electrodes of the root layer of the weld of magnetized pipelines with alternating rectangular current of increased frequency and subsequent layers of the weld with direct current of reverse polarity.
