FIELD: crystallography and crystal chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: used in the manufacture of scintillation detectors of ionizing radiation. Single crystals of cadmium tungstate are sheared off along the cleavage plane (010) and an injection is made on it with an indenter with a load of 50–200 g. The resulting rays of the injection rosette coincide in direction with the [001] axis in the same plane. The obtained information about the position of the (010) plane and the direction of the [001] axis makes it possible to determine the direction of the [100] axis, which also lies in this plane.

EFFECT: determining the direction of the main crystallographic axes in CdWO4 single crystals without the use of X-ray diffraction analysis.
