FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalytic processes for the selective oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen and can be used when using ammonia as a source of alternative fuel source. A catalyst for the selective oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen is proposed, which is a copper aluminate with a spinel structure and CuO in a phase ratio from 0.1 to 100 in the form of granules. The catalyst is characterized by a specific surface area of 30–150 m2/g, an average pore size of 3–16 nm, and a granule crushing strength of 20–80 kg/cm2. Also a method of producing a catalyst for the selective oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen and a process for the selective oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen is disclosed.
EFFECT: development of an effective catalyst for the process of selective oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen in a wide range of temperatures and concentrations of ammonia for use in burners.
