FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing a carbonate derivative, including the step of irradiating a non-catalytic composition containing halogenated methane, oxygen and a hydroxyl-containing compound with high-energy light. The molar ratio of the total amount of the compound containing the hydroxyl group to 1 mol of methyl halide is 0.05 or more. A compound containing a hydroxyl group is the formula (i) R1-OH, and the resulting carbonate derivative corresponds to the formula (I) R1-OC(=O)-OR1, or a compound containing a hydroxyl group is the formula (ii) HO-R2-OH, and the organic carbonate is a compound containing a fragment with the formula (II-1) [-OR2-OC(=O)-], or a cyclic carbonate derivative corresponding to the formula (II-2) -OR2-OC(=O)-. R1 is a monovalent, R2 divalent organic group, which include a C1-20 aliphatic hydrocarbon group, a C3-20 cycloalkyl group, a C6-32 aromatic hydrocarbon group, or a (poly)alkylene glycol monoalkyl ether group for R1 or (poly)alkylene glycol group for R2.
EFFECT: safe and effective method for producing polycarbonate even without the use of a base and a catalyst.
