SUBSTANCE: design of the cargo compartments of ships carrying liquefied natural gas. Membrane tank for liquefied natural gas has primary outer and secondary inner membranes in the form of thin sheets of cryogenic metal alloys, located on plywood sheets, between which a heat-insulating layer is placed, based on a set of racks made of heat-insulating material. The posts of the secondary membrane are fastened on one side by metal elements welded to the inner surface of the vessel compartment, on the other side, metal elements are attached to the posts passing through the plywood sheets of the secondary membrane, to which the secondary membrane is welded from the inside of the compartment. The posts of the primary membrane are located along the axis of the posts of the secondary membrane and are fastened on one side to the secondary membrane by welded metal elements, and on the other side, metal elements are fixed on the posts passing through the plywood sheets of the primary membrane, to which the primary membrane is welded from the inside of the compartment.

EFFECT: simplification of the tank assembly method in corner joints, increase in the reliability of the membrane tank, reduction in the weight and thermal conductivity of the tank.
