SUBSTANCE: invention relates to forage harvesters equipped with a chopping drum, which is designed for grinding long-stemmed fodder and industrial crops, in particular industrial hemp. The drum is made in the form of cylindrical pipe 1. On both sides of pipe 1, discs 5 are welded into it with trunnions 2 and 3 mounted on them and serving as drum supports. Balancing plates 26 are located on the cylindrical surface of pipe 1, and two supports 6 and 7 are also installed for mounting two differently directed knives 17 and 18, corners 12 and protective plates 13 and 14, fixed on the surface of pipe 1 by welding. The pipe is made thick-walled, and protective plates 13 and 14 have a flat trapezoidal shape.

EFFECT: harvesting industrial crops with obtaining fragments of a given large length when crushing the stems of the harvested crop.
