SUBSTANCE: method for determining the velocity of ultrasound in liquid media consists in pulsed probing of the investigated medium with a pulse whose length is less than the length of the probed medium, determining the phase incursion. In this case, the phase shiftϕ determined by the change in the pressure value with a change in the angle of incidence of the ultrasonic beamθ on the surface of the receiving quartz from the maximum pressure pmax and θ equal to zero whenϕ is zero, up to pmin at θmin when ϕ=π/2, and the formula determines the speed of ultrasound , where ν is the frequency of the ultrasonic wave, R is the radius of the piezoelectric quartz receiver, the size of which is much larger than the wavelength, β is the argument of the Bessel function corresponding to θmin.
EFFECT: reduction in the time for measurements and the efficiency of measuring the speed of sound in a liquid.
