FIELD: veterinary virology and biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: test system for quantitative determination of the level of humoral immunity of animals against the antigen of FMD virus strain A No. 2205/G-IV of A/AFRICA/G-IV genotype using a liquid-phase blocking indirect "sandwich" ELISA variant is described. The advantage of the developed test system is a long shelf life (at least 3 years) due to the production of freeze-dried immunospecific components. The proposed test system provides the creation of a modern, specific and sensitive test system designed to quantify the level of humoral immunity against the antigen of the FMD virus strain A No. 2205/G-IV of the new A/AFRICA/G-IV genotype in a wide range of 4.5–11.0 log2 SN50 for subsequent analysis of the immune status of animals in relation to foot and mouth disease. This strain and its corresponding genotype is relevant and rapidly spreading on the territory of the African continent, as well as in the countries of the Middle East.
EFFECT: developed test system is aimed at confirming the high efficiency of inactivated FMD vaccines produced in the Russian Federation containing the antigen of this strain, and thereby protecting the territory of Russia and neighboring countries in the south from the spread of FMDV isolates of A/AFRICA-IV genotype.
