SUBSTANCE: non-consumable electrode is designed for arc welding, mainly with reverse polarity, in inert gases. A removable hollow tip made of an alloy with high thermal conductivity with a refractory insert, the working end of which protrudes outward from the tip, is fixed on the electrically conductive body. A tube for supplying cooling water is installed in the tip cavity. The tip is made with a through hole, and the insert is fixed in it with a firmly-tight brazed seam to form a fillet on the inside of the tip. The cooled end of the refractory insert protrudes into the tip cavity, and the minimum length of the protruding part of the insert is equal to the height of the brazed seam fillet. The working end of the refractory insert has the shape of a part of the surface of a sphere or the shape of a truncated cone.

EFFECT: invention provides favourable conditions for cooling the refractory insert to reduce the temperature along its length. It is possible to repair the electrode while maintaining the length of its protruding working end.
