FIELD: defect detection.
SUBSTANCE: method for optical detection of surface defects of flat extended objects, such as: steel metal materials (strips, sheets), their alloys, composite polymer materials, etc. The invention also relates to systems for optical detection of surface defects of flat extended objects, such as steel metal materials (strips, sheets), their alloys, composite polymer materials, etc. The video inspection system for flat extended objects consists of a video camera, a lighting system, an equipment control system, a computer with a convolutional neural network. The optical scheme of the video inspection system contains at least one RGB machine vision camera and a complex system consisting of a diffusion lighting system with at least one linear illuminator and a side lighting system with at least one matrix illuminator.
EFFECT: improved quality of detection of surface defects of flat extended objects.
