SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to predict the development of severe distal neuropathy (DN) and diabetic foot syndrome (DFS) in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). DNA is isolated from the peripheral venous blood. Polymorphisms of -308G/A of TNFα gene, G-1082A of IL10 gene, C-174G of IL6 gene, IIe105Val of GSTP gene, T58C of SOD2 gene, G1293C(c1/c2) of CYP2E gene are determined. If at least one mutant genotype selected from GG -308G/A of TNFα gene, AA G-1082A of IL10 gene, GG C-174G of IL6 gene, GG IIe105Val of GSTP gene, TT T58C of SOD2 gene, and CC G-1293C(c1/c2) of CYP2E gene is detected, a high risk of developing severe DN and DFS predict in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus, and in the absence of a combination of the above mutant genotypes, a low risk is predicted.

EFFECT: method provides prognosis of severe course of DN and DFS in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus by identifying mutant genotypes of -308G/A polymorphisms of TNFα gene, G-1082A of IL10 gene, C-174G of IL6 gene, IIe105Val of GSTP gene, T58C of SOD2 gene, and/or G-1293C(c1/c2) of CYP2E gene.
