FIELD: optical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is intended to create augmented reality devices that form three-dimensional floating images in free space. The floating image display device comprises an image source, an electronic control unit, a system with tuneable optical power, a projection module, and a waveguide system. The device is configured to form a flat floating image, a flat floating video, a three-dimensional floating image, a three-dimensional floating video.
EFFECT: possibility of forming a volumetric or non-volumetric floating image focused in free space, with a wide field of view, which can be viewed from several viewpoints.
