FIELD: medicine; veterinary radiology.

SUBSTANCE: laboratory rabbits, previously weaned from the feeder and drinker for 3 hours, are injected with a sterile cotton swab into the oral cavity through the edentulous part for a period of 7–10 minutes. During this period, the rabbit's mouth is fixed with a muzzle to prevent the tampon from falling out. The size of the swab is selected so that during centrifugation it gets stuck in the bottom of the centrifuge conical tube with a narrow bottom. Then the swab is removed, immersed in a centrifuge tube and centrifuged for 5 minutes at 3,000 rpm.

EFFECT: method provides an expansion of the range of methods for sampling the oral fluid in rabbits, is easy to perform due to the participation of one specialist, there is no need to perform manipulations related to anesthesia of the animal and the introduction of special probes into the gland duct, there is no direct need to stimulate the secretion of the salivary glands, and is effective due to obtaining a volume of a sample of oral fluid sufficient for a laboratory study.
