FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the construction of optical communication cables. The technical result is to increase the protection of the cable from moisture without changing its geometric dimensions. The technical result is achieved by the fact that in the design of a fibre-optic communication cable containing optical fibres in a moisture-protected optical module, an outer polymer sheath and an intermediate polymer sheath, steel wire armour placed in a hydrophobic gel between the intermediate sheath and the outer sheath, as the basis for laying modules with optical fibres is a core with a central element of insulated copper wires twisted into a symmetrical star quadruple. A water-blocking thread is placed in the centre of the core. Moreover, the star quadruple is covered with the first polymeric intermediate shell, on which strings and optical modules with optical fibres, a drainage wire in a hydrophobic gel and an aluminium polymer tape are placed.
EFFECT: increased protection of the cable from moisture without changing its geometric dimensions.
