SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE SYSTEM FOR EPILEPTIC SEIZURES PREDICTION Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61B8/06 A61B5/26 A61B5/11

Abstract RU 2799619 C1

FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to software and hardware systems for predicting epileptic seizures. The system comprises ultrasonic sensors capable of operating in a bidirectional mode of generating and receiving sound vibrations, a switch, a pulser, an excitation signal generator, ultrasonic signal preamplifiers, signal conversion units, amplifying stages of echo signals and analogue-to-digital converters. In addition, the system comprises a motion sensor, a motion signal amplifying cascade, a band pass filter, digital and universal processors, a display, a USB interface, a Wi-Fi module, a data input interface, a memory card, a sound indicator, a battery and a synchronizer. The mount for ultrasonic sensors is configured for placing on the patient's neck and positioning the sensors opposite the common carotid artery. The mount is equipped with plates on the inside and holders on the outside for covering and positioning ultrasonic sensors. The mount is equipped with screws to connect the sensors to the mount and covers to cover the holders on the outside of the mount. The digital processor is configured to calculate the blood flow velocity in the common carotid artery and acceleration. The general-purpose processor is configured to calculate the probability of occurrence of an epileptic seizure and output the high probability to a display and an audible indicator.

EFFECT: prediction of an epileptic seizure for a time sufficient to reduce the risk of injury and death when it occurs, which will improve the quality of life of people with epilepsy.
