FIELD: research of oils based on esters.
SUBSTANCE: method for determining the hydrolytic stability of essential oils is disclosed, which consists in homogenizing a mixture of oil and water and then keeping this mixture in a hermetically sealed metal glass for a certain time at a given temperature, while the oil used for mixing with water is preliminarily subjected to thermal-oxidative degradation and evaluation. The hydrolytic stability of the oil is estimated according to an indicator characterizing the specific degree of hydrolysis of the oxidized oil.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the reliability of assessing the propensity of essential oils to hydrolysis under operating conditions in gas turbine engines by using a preliminary procedure for the thermal-oxidative destruction of the oil.
