SUBSTANCE: invention relates to infrared diagnostics and methods of thermal non-destructive testing of quartz glass raw materials, for example, in the form of pipes and rods, intended for the manufacture of aircraft structural elements, and serves to detect the presence of cristobalite in raw materials, in order to increase quality of radiotransparent quartz ceramics. A method for determining cristobalite in products made of quartz glass by the method of thermal imaging control is proposed, including heating the controlled product and the control sample with a radiation source and recording the surface temperature of the product and the control sample with a thermal imager with the formation of a thermogram of the controlled surface of the product and a thermogram of the surface of the control sample, comparing the thermogram of the controlled surface of the product with the thermogram surface of the reference sample. Moreover, heating is carried out at a temperature of 40-50°C for 1-3 s, and the change in the state of the temperature field is recorded in the spectral range of 3-5 mcm within a distinguishable temperature difference of 0.02-0.04°C, whereas the source of thermal radiation is located on the opposite side of the controlled product relative to the thermal imager, and the conclusion about the presence of cristobalite in quartz glass products is made by the presence of blackouts of the controlled surface on the thermogram of the controlled surface of the product compared to the thermogram of the surface of the reference sample.

EFFECT: increased accuracy of determining defects in the form of cristobalite in quartz glass products intended for the manufacture of aircraft structures by providing control of quartz glass raw materials by thermal imaging.
