FIELD: nuclear medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a technology for producing radionuclides for nuclear medicine using charged particle accelerators. Hydrogen iodide (H123I) is selectively removed from a mixture containing 123Xe, 124Xe, H2 and H123I by passing the mixture through a sorbent column by chemisorption on sodium hydrocarbonate (NaHCO3). Moreover, sodium iodide (Na123I) formed as a result of a chemical reaction is washed off from the sorption column with acetone or 95% ethanol followed by removal of the solvent by vacuum distillation.
EFFECT: achievement of a high degree of extraction (>95%) of hydrogen iodide (H123I) from a mixture containing 123Xe, 124Xe, H2 and H123I followed by isolation of the target radionuclide 123I in the chemical form of sodium iodide (Na123I), suitable for the production of radiopharmaceuticals on its basis.
