FIELD: nuclear physics; medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of producing radioisotopes for nuclear medicine on charged particle accelerators. Method of extracting 123I radionuclide from a target involves irradiating a target with isotope 124Xe, extraction after irradiation from the target of starting 124Xe with produced 123Xe, holding of 123Xe for its decay into 123I and extraction after irradiation from the target of accumulated during irradiation 123I. At that, for extraction of accumulated during irradiation 123I, target after irradiation is filled with organic solvent or mixture of organic solvents, 123I accumulated during irradiation is dissolved in them and the obtained solution with 123I is transferred into a receiving device. Then, the solvents are vacuum stripped from the receiving device, and 123I accumulated in the receiving device is washed off with sodium hydroxide solution.
EFFECT: high degree of extraction of desired 123I radionuclide from the target and obtaining 123I in the chemical form of sodium iodide (Na123I), which is suitable for producing radiopharmaceuticals based thereon.
