The technical result is achieved by performing the following steps: detection by the user device of a request to delete or edit a message without a time limit; deleting or editing and sending the message to the recipient by the user device in response to determining that the message has not been sent; if the message has been sent, sending a delete or edit request to a message server connected to both the sender's device and the recipient's device, the request including the message identifier; the message server editing and sending the message to recipients in response to determining that the message has not been delivered; sending a delete or edit request to the recipient's electronic device after determining that the message has been sent to the recipient's device, the request including a message identifier; deleting or editing the message on the recipient's device and sending a notification of the result of the request to the sender's device.
