SUBSTANCE: method of local therapy of osteoarthritis of the knee joint including the initial five intra-articular (IA) injections of 2 ml, while the interval between the first and second IA injections is 2 days, between the second and subsequent injections is 3 days, and subsequent sixteen intramuscular (IM) injections of 2 ml with an interval of 1 day, where the interval between the last IA and the first IM injection is 2 days, to a patient in need of a medicinal product containing chondroitin sulfate sodium, sodium disulfite, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, 1 M sodium hydroxide solution and water for injection in the following ratio of components, per 1 ml of the preparation: active ingredient: 100 mg of sodium chondroitin sulfate (in terms of dry matter); excipients: 2 mg of sodium disulfite; 0.5 mg of methyl parahydroxybenzoate; 1 M sodium hydroxide solution with pH 6.0÷7.5; up to 1.0 ml of water for injection.

EFFECT: above method allows to increase the effectiveness of therapy for osteoarthritis of the knee in patients who need it, to reduce the severity of gonarthrosis.
