SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for generating an inhaled medium, to a cartridge for use in a device for generating an inhaled medium, and to a kit. The device for generating an inhaled medium contains: a container with the first volatile material; a heater for volatilizing the first volatile material contained in the container; a chamber containing an aerosolized material containing nicotine; a tank with a basic solution; and an outlet. The outlet is arranged in such a way that, when used, the basic solution is released from the tank and enters the chamber containing the aerosolized material, and the first volatile material is volatilized by the heater to form steam and/or aerosol, which passes through the chamber containing the aerosolized material and carries one or more components of the aerosolized material with it, thereby forming an inhaled the medium that passes through the outlet.
