FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a photocatalyst from zinc oxide powder of mass production, which consists in that particles of ZnO, for example, zinc oxide, are subjected to additional treatment, which increases their photocatalytic activity, during which powder is dispersed in distilled water containing ammonia-hydrate until zinc hydroxide in solution is dissolved and zinc hydroxide zinc hydroxide is formed in water-soluble complex salt, settling or centrifugating obtained suspension to separate liquid from particles, obtained precipitate of particles is washed with distilled water during dispersion, and separating obtained suspension by settling, centrifugation into two fractions with particle size of 200 nm or less, and with particle size of more than 200 nm, after which the obtained suspensions are decanted and dried to a constant weight of the residue, wherein particles smaller than 200 nm are used as a photocatalyst.

EFFECT: technical result consists in developing a method of producing a photocatalyst, which increases its photocatalytic activity.
