SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an inhaler and a method for its operation. The inhaler comprises a receiver for receiving an inhalation product, a heater for heating the inserted inhalation product, a power supply for supplying electric power to the heater, a memory for storing data related to a plurality of heating profiles, a controller for controlling the operation of the inhaler based on a plurality of heating profiles, and a temperature sensor for determining the temperature of the heater. The controller performs a preheat operation that is common to many heating profiles. The preheating operation that is common to the plurality of heating profiles includes a first preheating operation to maintain the temperature of the heater at an identical first heating temperature level during the first heating period that is common to the plurality of heating profiles.
EFFECT: inhaler that improves inhalation sensation and allows the user to flexibly select and switch the operating mode so that the user does not notice switching between operating modes.
