FIELD: neutron beam chopper.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a neutron beam chopper with a limited neutron bandwidth. The chopper includes disks synchronously rotating around one axis with equidistant slots. The stripe disk determines the operating spectral band in the presence of the main disk, which sets the time-of-flight resolution. Between them is a cutter disk that absorbs background slow neutrons. To change the time-of-flight resolution, an additional disk identical to it is installed after the main disk. If it is necessary to change the time-of-flight base, an additional disk identical to it is installed in front of the strip disk. Suitable cutter parameters are provided by introducing a rotational phase difference of identical disks, which changes the opening time for a bunch of opposing slits.
EFFECT: simplifying the design, facilitating the operation of the device and reducing neutron losses.
