FIELD: measuring.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to detection of thermal neutrons using scintillation detectors. Thermal neutron scintillation detector, having the shape of a parallelepiped and coated with a light-insulating material, contains from 2 to 5 alternating plates of a neutron-sensitive scintillator, located in the volume of an organic light guide made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), at the ends of which there are silicon photomultipliers, as well as a neutron reflector plate, wherein the neutron reflector plate is installed on the side of the scintillation detector, which is opposite to the incident neutron flux, wherein the neutron reflector plate, which reflects neutrons back towards the neutron-sensitive scintillator, is made from organic material PMMA with thickness of not more than 10 mm.
EFFECT: high efficiency of detecting thermal neutrons.
