FIELD: hydroacoustics; radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to build systems for detecting a sonar signal and, in particular, to improve the accuracy of distance measurement when using tone probing signals. Essence: when implementing the method, the change in the frequency of the received signal, formed due to the Doppler effect, is determined. After determining the changes in the frequency of the received signal and the speed of relative approach to a stationary target, it is possible to determine the speed of sound under existing conditions. In this case, the method determines the distance to the target with higher accuracy. The method is based on emitting a probing signal, receiving an echo signal, measuring the delay time between emitting a probing signal and receiving a reflected echo signal, determining the distance after estimating the speed of sound based on a spectral analysis of the received signal.
EFFECT: determining the speed of sound by distance and increasing the accuracy of estimating the distance along the propagation path for one message simultaneously with the detection of an echo signal.
