Proposed is a method for determining the speed of sound along the propagation path to the target, which contains the emitting of a constant duration probing signal through constant time intervals T, wherein the reception of the echo is carried out by the receiver, determining the speed Vown of the receiving device carrier movement, reception of the echo signal and measurement of its parameters is produced statically by a fan of horizontal directional characteristics with the directivity characteristic width Q° of not more than 2°, determining the time of emission of the first sounding signal tof1, measuring the reception time of the first echo tre1 and the number of the directivity characteristic N1, determining the speed of convergence, deciding on the mobility of the target, speed of sound along the path for a stationary target is determined by the formula Cr=2VownT/{(tre1-tre2)+T)}, and the speed of sound along the mobile target is determined by the formula , where Δt={(tof1-tre1)-(tof2-tre2)}.
EFFECT: resulting estimate of the speed of sound will increase the reliability in determining the basic parameters of the target.
