SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for positioning a modular base module (4) of a mechanical machine, which comprises a reference module (41) with two longitudinal elements (45) with guides and a module (42) to be installed and aligned with the reference module (41) in three degrees of freedom formed by displacement along the vertical axis Z of the Cartesian coordinate system (CS), the angle "a" of rotation around the horizontal axis X of the Cartesian CS and the angle "b" of rotation around the horizontal axis Y of the Cartesian CS. The device (1) comprises a liquid levelling device (2), which has at least three positioning cylinders (21, 22, 23), at least one reference cylinder (24), which are mutually communicated in a fluid medium to form a system of communicating vessels, and the main support (3) having the first plate on the support legs, by adjusting the length of which the said installation and alignment is performed. A method for positioning the module using this device is also proposed.
EFFECT: improved positioning accuracy of the module and simplified alignment process.
