FIELD: petrochemical field.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to zirconium carboxylate, and in particular to a solution of zirconium (IV) carboxylate in an aromatic solvent, which is characterized by a chloride concentration of 501 to 8000 ppmw and the content of hafnium is not more than 150 ppmw. A method is also proposed for producing said solution of zirconium (IV) carboxylate, a catalytic system for producing linear alpha-olefins (LAO) comprising said solution of zirconium (IV) carboxylate, and a method for producing linear alpha-olefins in the presence of a catalytic system.

EFFECT: increasing the selectivity of zirconium (IV) carboxylate with respect to LAO, namely, in increasing the purity of the LAO fractions for alpha-olefin, in the process of ethylene oligomerization, and also in reducing the amount of by-product polyethylene formed.
