FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: neutral earth reactor with a magnetizing amplifying structure, which includes an oil tank, an air-cored coil located inside the oil tank and having no iron core, and a rectangular iron yoke. Four yoke sections are end-to-end connected in series and include an upper yoke section above the air-cored coil, a first side yoke section on one side of the air-cored coil, a lower yoke section below the air-cored coil, and a second side yoke section on the other side of the air-cored coil. The central axes of the first side section of the yoke, the second side section of the yoke and the air core coil are parallel and lie in the same plane. The central axis of the air-cored coil passes through the center point of the iron yoke, and all magnetic field lines created when the air-cored coil is energized pass through the iron yoke. The use of an iron yoke made from silicon steel sheets instead of the traditional aluminum shield cylinder can block the magnetic flux from the coil and result in higher reactance and magnetic amplification properties of the coil due to the high magnetic permeability of the silicon steel sheets.
EFFECT: as the coil exhibits low resistance losses and low eddy current losses, it can have fewer turns, resulting in copper wire savings and significant cost savings.
