SUBSTANCE: agricultural work system for optimizing agricultural work processes and a method for optimizing agricultural work processes using an agricultural work system comprises at least one agricultural work module, in particular an agricultural work machine and/or a stationary agricultural structure. The agricultural work system contains functional units for performing or supporting agricultural work, each of which contains a control device for controlling the corresponding functional unit based on a stored set of rules. The agricultural work system comprises a central pattern recognition system configured to store at least one agricultural work situation as a situation template in the pattern recognition system and transmit information about the work situation to the pattern recognition system. The pattern recognition system is configured to identify the stored work situation and the situation template associated with it based on the received information about the work situation and transfer meta-information characterizing the identified work situation to the functional units. The pattern recognition system and/or control devices of functional units are configured to coordinate the interaction of functional units working together in an identified operating situation, based on meta-information, so that the control devices make appropriate settings for the parameters of the associated functional unit.
