FIELD: powder metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: production of nanodisperse powdersα - aluminum oxide. The method includes grinding of α -alumina in a planetary mill with 10 mm steel balls for 15 min at an acceleration of 40g. To the crushed α -alumina add not more than 3 wt. % metallic aluminum and not more than 3 wt. % distilled water. And the subsequent removal of impurities is carried out by washing them with a 5-7% solution of hydrochloric acid when heated.
EFFECT: obtaining a weakly aggregated powder of high purity with an average particle size in the range of 15-30 nm.
