FLOATING DAM - ROAD Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC E02B3/10

Abstract RU 2803066 C1

FIELD: hydraulic engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to engineering structures that protect the territories of settlements from flooding during floods. The floating-up dam consists of floating sections provided with a protective reinforced concrete cover laid on top of the floating sections. In the prone position on the ground, in the absence of flooding, the floating sections form a roadway for vehicles. Protection against flooding is solved by creating a watertight plane due to the ascent of pre-assembled floating sections pivotally connected to reinforced concrete abutments. Reinforced concrete abutments are erected with a deepening in the ground. Oval bushings of hinges are laid in the upper part of the abutments for connection with steel axles to the floating sections of the dam. The sections of the dam located in series form the sides of a closed contour around a settlement, an enterprise, or are located along the coastal strip of a water basin. When flooded, the water with its buoyant force begins to lift the edges of the floating sections facing the direction of the presence of water, whereas the other side of the floating sections remains hinged to the abutments. This creates a dam plane that rises with the rise in water level, the angle of inclination of which with respect to the horizon increases as the water stays. Waterproofing of the joints of the sections and the fit of the sections to the ground is provided by a waterproofing membrane, in the longitudinal direction of the dam, fixed on one side to the ends of the floating sections, and on the other side to the underground part of the abutments, with a tight connection of its constituent pieces, forming a continuous tape separating the entire plane of the dam against water during flooding. The floating-up dam includes ordinary floating sections 6, having a trapezoidal shape in plan, the bevelled longitudinal sides of which exclude friction and jamming of the sections when they are raised at an angle to the horizon during flooding, rotary floating sections 10, used in pairs, in which one section is a mirror in relation to the other, which are in contact with each other with rounded longitudinal ends, providing, with any change in the angle of inclination of the sections, a tight fit when they are raised at an angle to the horizon during flooding, and is also equipped with floating sections for organizing intersections 12, used in pairs, in which one section is a mirror image of another. Pairs of sections for organizing intersections 12 have a monolithic joint, made during the construction of the road surface, with the formation of a pair of sections of a single structure, fixed to two abutments located on the same axis. Tight abutment of rotary sections 10 to adjacent ordinary sections 6 is achieved by water pressure and the shape of the bushings of the abutments of rotary sections 10, which determine the direction of the turn of the axes of the sections simultaneously in the horizontal and vertical planes with their rotation inside the bushings. Installation of adjacent ordinary sections 6 is carried out after fixing the threaded axes of the sections for organizing intersections 12 and turning sections 10.

EFFECT: creating a watertight plane due to the floating sections pre-mounted, hingedly connected to reinforced concrete abutments, as well as in using the sections as the base of the roadway for vehicles in the absence of flooding, in the position of the sections lying on the ground.
