FIELD: electroplating.

SUBSTANCE: method is intended to improve the decorative characteristics of coatings and increase the durability of products and can be used in mechanical engineering and related industries. The method includes microarc oxidation, subsequent heat treatment and application of a coating polymer-containing layer, while microarc oxidation is carried out in an aqueous solution of potassium hydroxide 8-10 g/l or sodium hydroxide 7-9 g/l, having a temperature of 35-45°C, at an alternating current density of 10-35 A/dm2 for 5-15 min, the subsequent heat treatment is carried out immediately after microarc oxidation by heating the products to 330-1000°C with an exposure of 3-10 minutes, while the heating temperature should be at least 10-20°C below the melting temperature of the alloy of the product, and on the surface of products with coatings that have undergone heat treatment, a polymer paint material with the desired decorative characteristics and a viscosity of 70-110 cSt is applied, after which it is dried.

EFFECT: development of a method for obtaining coatings with high decorative properties and a wide range of colors on products made of valve metal alloys, capable of operating in a wide temperature range from -50 to +70°C and conditions of high humidity up to 100% without destruction and peeling for a period of at least 12 months.
