FIELD: oil and gas.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for continuously removing hydrogen sulphide (H2S) gas from a pipeline process stream, such as a mixture of hydrocarbon and water in a subsea pipeline, wellbore or wellhead. A method for treating hydrogen sulphide present in a process stream includes introducing a liquid process solution containing a sulphur dye catalyst suspended in the form of a suspension in a liquid process solution into a process stream containing hydrocarbon and hydrogen sulphide to form a mixture. The point of introduction of the liquid process solution into the process stream is at a distance upstream of the separator. The hydrogen sulphide is absorbed into the process liquid and reacts with the sulphur dye catalyst to form a soluble spent sulphur dye catalyst. The mixture is sent to a separator to recover the treated hydrocarbon and the spent process solution containing the soluble spent catalyst based on sulphur dye and water. The sulphide associated with the sulphur dye catalyst is then oxidized to thiosulfate such that the sulphur dye catalyst becomes slurried again in the regenerated liquid process fluid stream containing thiosulfate and the regenerated sulphur dye catalyst slurry. The liquid stream of the regenerated liquid process solution is introduced into the filtration process, where the suspension of the regenerated sulphur dye catalyst is separated from the thiosulfate by means of a separation process. The filtration process uses a filter media that collects the regenerated sulphur dye catalyst and where a backwash step removes the regenerated sulphur dye catalyst from the filter media to form a slurry of the regenerated sulphur dye catalyst suspended in the regenerated process liquid. The reclaimed process fluid is then recirculated to a purge area in the process flow conduit and a predetermined concentration of thiosulfate in the regenerated process fluid is maintained by removing a portion of the reclaimed process fluid from the process.
EFFECT: removal of gaseous hydrogen sulphide (H2S) from the process stream.
