SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to systems and methods for producing dimethyl sulphide from a gasified coke stream. Method for recovering petroleum from an oil reservoir is described, comprising introducing into the formation a composition for recovering oil containing dimethyl sulphide, which is obtained by a process comprising providing a stream of gasified coke containing carbon monoxide, hydrogen, hydrogen sulphide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen; separation of the stream of gasified coke into a stream enriched with carbon monoxide as compared to the flow of gasified coke, a stream enriched with hydrogen as compared to a stream of gasified coke, and a stream enriched with hydrogen sulfide compared to a stream of gasified coke; producing methanol from at least a portion of the separated carbon monoxide-rich stream and at least a portion of the separated hydrogen-enriched stream; and producing dimethyl sulphide from at least a portion of the methanol produced and at least a portion of the separated stream enriched with hydrogen sulfide.
EFFECT: technical result is the production of dimethyl sulphide, which can be particularly useful in methods of enhancement of oil recovery ("EOR"), creating a larger market for coke with a high sulfur content and, therefore, for high sulfur oil and coal, minimizing environmental problems associated with sour coke.
