FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: circulator based on enhancing nonreciprocity of magnetoelastic waves in an artificial antiferromagnet/piezoelectric heterostructure. The circulator consists of a single-crystal plate with piezoelectric properties, on the surface of which waveguides are formed, connected to each other at an angle corresponding to the symmetry angle of the piezoelectric single-crystal plate, limited on the outer and inner sides by a material with high mechanical absorbing properties. At the points of connection of the waveguides, interdigital converters are formed for excitation of surface acoustic waves. Also, on the waveguides between the converters, there are arrays of microstrips located at an angle to the wave vector of the acoustic wave. The microstrips are a heterostructure with the properties of an artificial antiferromagnet, which is made of two layers of a ferromagnet, separated by a layer of metal, the thickness of the ferromagnetic layers should differ by no less than 1 nm, but no more than 15%, the value of the angle between the wave vector of the SAW directed in the forward direction and the vector of the total magnetization of the AAFM should be in the range from 35 to 37°.
EFFECT: improvement in loss characteristics, temperature and weight-size parameters with the ability to control transmission losses by changing the displacement field.
