FIELD: cryogenic engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method and device for gas liquefaction, used in hydrogen production sites to create mobile modular complexes for hydrogen liquefaction. Hydrogen liquefaction method includes pre-cooling of hydrogen flow, implementation of ortho-para conversion of hydrogen, further cooling and liquefaction of hydrogen by reverse flow of refrigerant of low-temperature liquefaction circuit, expansion and direction of liquid hydrogen to hydrogen storage. Pre-cooling of the hydrogen flow is carried out by the reverse flow of the mixed refrigerant in the first, second, third, fourth and fifth heat exchangers (HE). The return flow of the mixed refrigerant (MR) after exiting the first HE is compressed and cooled, after which the MR flow is separated in phase separators at different temperature levels and throttled into the return MR flow to cool the forward flows.

EFFECT: reduction in energy consumption, the likelihood of failures in the implementation of the process of hydrogen liquefaction and an increase in the efficiency and reliability of the plant equipment for hydrogen liquefaction.
