FIELD: fire-resistant materials.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used in the manufacture of fire-resistant polymeric materials. A method for producing a thermally stable phosphorus-containing fire-resistant material is proposed. The method includes heating one or more of phosphonic acid salts to a temperature of 200°C or higher in a high-boiling, water-miscible, acid-stable solvent. Phosphonic acid salts are compounds of formula (I):
where R is H, an alkyl, aryl, alkylaryl or arylalkyl group, p is a number from 2 to 7, M is a metal, y is a number from 2 to 7, so that M(+)y is a metal cation, where (+)y is the charge formally assigned to the cation. A fire-resistant material is also proposed.
EFFECT: improved thermal stability of a fire-resistant phosphorus-containing material while reducing the size of its particles.
