SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for controlling the acceleration of a gas turbine engine, wherein the gas turbine engine comprises a combustion chamber, a high-pressure turbine located downstream of the combustion chamber and driving a high-pressure shaft, and a low-pressure turbine located downstream of the high-pressure turbine and driving rotation of the low-pressure shaft. According to the invention, the method includes the following steps: applying (100) mechanical power to the high-pressure shaft until the speed of the high-pressure shaft reaches a predetermined value, then extracting (200) mechanical power from the high-pressure shaft to maintain the set rotation speed. In addition, a gas turbine engine for an aircraft is also provided.
EFFECT: improved engine efficiency.
