SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in radio electronics, instrumentation, engineering, automotive industry. The electrolyte for applying a protective coating with a tin-nickel alloy on a carbon steel product comprises, g/l: tin dichloride 20-30, nickel dichloride 20-30, ammonium oxalate 90-110, preparation OS-20 0.8-1.2. The method of coating with a tin-nickel alloy on a carbon steel product includes preliminary preparation of the product, preparation of the electrolyte and electrochemical coating of the product from the specified electrolyte at a current density of 0.3 A/dm2 for 2 hours at a temperature of 45°C.
EFFECT: increased corrosion resistance of the coating with a tin-nickel alloy while reducing the energy costs for coating.
