FIELD: production of epoxides.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used in the production of epoxides from olefins using titanium-containing silicon oxide as a catalyst. A method for producing titanium-containing silicon oxide comprises the step of mixing a silicon source, which is silicon oxide or a silicon oxide precursor that forms silicon oxide upon reaction with water, a matrix agent and a solvent to obtain a solid substance comprising silicon oxide and the matrix agent. The matrix agent is then removed to obtain a solid comprising silica. Next, the resulting solid is contacted with a silylating agent to obtain a solid comprising silylated silicon oxide. A source of titanium is introduced into the reaction system at any time during the process. The titanium source includes titanium alkoxide, chelate-type titanium complex, titanium halide and titanium-containing sulphate. The matrix agent is a mixture of a quaternary ammonium compound and an amine. The molar ratio of amine to quaternary ammonium compound ranges from 0.005 to 0.16. A method for producing epoxide has also been proposed.
