FIELD: measurement technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for measuring rotation angles and can be used to measure the angular movements of motor shafts and robot manipulators. The claimed device for determining the angle of rotation comprises an optical source of linearly polarized radiation, a photodetector and a scale in the form of a metasurface. A liquid crystal rotator is also additionally introduced, with the rotator and scale in the form of a metasurface placed sequentially between the source and the photodetector coaxially with them. The metasurface has a resonant frequency depending on the structure parameters matched to the source radiation frequency, and is designed to rotate around the specified axis. In addition, the device comprises a comparison unit, a linearly varying voltage generator and an output signal generation unit. In this case, the output of the photodetector is connected to the input of the comparison block, the output of the comparison block is connected to the first information input of the linearly varying voltage generator, the first output of which is connected to the input of the polarization rotator, and the second output to the input of the output signal generation block. The first output of the output signal generating unit is connected to the second input of the linearly varying voltage generator. The second and third outputs of the output signal generation block are the outputs of the device allowing to determine the resulting angle of rotation and count the number of revolutions, respectively.

EFFECT: minimizing the maximum sensitivity and, as a consequence, increasing the accuracy of determining the angle of rotation.
