FIELD: corrosion protection.

SUBSTANCE: system for determining the corrosion rate of a metal structure, including a control unit, a source of light radiation, means for receiving and measuring reflected light radiation, optical corrosion sensors connected via a fibre-optic cable to the control unit, each sensor is an optical fibre with a metal layer applied to the end surface of a given thickness or optical fibre with at least one annular metal strip deposited on the side surface, each optical corrosion sensor is connected to the control unit via a microcontroller, which is provided with data on the ambient temperature and geographic coordinates of each corrosion sensor.

EFFECT: improved efficiency of determining the corrosion rate of an extended metal underground structure.
