FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the method of measurement of electric cable length comprising: provision of an electric cable, having length and including a neutral axis of the cable and fibre module, extended in the longitudinal direction along the cable and including optic fibre, placed substantially along the neutral axis, besides, the optic fibre is mechanically connected to the cable; introduction of an optical signal into optic fibre; detection of light radiation, reversely scattered from optic fibre in response to the specified introduced optical signal; analysis of detected reversely scattered light radiation as time function, in order to detect length of optic fibre and produce cable length on the basis of optic fibre length.

EFFECT: invention provides for measurement relative to large length of a cable, including the one stretching along a complex route.
