FIELD: electrodes.
SUBSTANCE: production of graphite electrodes with a protective coating, in particular for electric arc and reduction furnaces. A graphite electrode with a protective coating contains a graphite base, on which a protective two-layer coating with a total thickness of 0.1-2.0 mm is applied. The first coating layer is made by arc metallization, using a solid wire made of aluminum or its alloy containing 5-10% silicon. The second is using a flux-cored wire consisting of a steel shell and a core made of a mixture containing, wt.%: aluminum 15.0-20.0, chromium 2.0-6.0, yttrium 0.5-3.0 , iron - the basis.
EFFECT: increasing the resistance of graphite electrodes operating under conditions of high-temperature corrosion, reducing their oxidation and consumption.
