FIELD: catalysts.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for producing eggshell catalysts on alkaline earth metal aluminate substrates. A method for producing an eggshell catalyst is described, comprising the following steps: (i) preparing a calcined moulded alkaline earth metal aluminate substrate, (ii) treating the calcined moulded alkaline earth metal aluminate substrate with a gas containing water vapour to form a hydrated substrate, (iii ) impregnating, without an intermediate drying step, the hydrated substrate with an acid solution containing one or more catalytic metal compounds and drying the impregnated substrate, and (iv) calcining the dried impregnated substrate to form a calcined catalyst, wherein the catalytic metal oxide is concentrated on the surface of the substrate.
EFFECT: improved control of the thickness of the eggshell-type shell.
