FIELD: medicine; rhinosurgery.
SUBSTANCE: access to the maxillary sinus is made through the lower nasal meatus, followed by retrograde infundibulotomy. The inferior turbinate is medialized using a rasp. The outlet of the nasolacrimal ducts — the valves of Hasner is identified. An antrostomy is formed outside the lacrimal ducts. The zone of natural anastomosis is palpated and penetrated with a button probe from the sinus side with simultaneous endoscopic control of the middle meatus through the nasal cavity. The natural anastomosis is expanded by infundibulotomy through the middle meatus.
EFFECT: method eliminates the possibility of damage to the orbital structures during infundibulotomy in the treatment of silent sinus syndrome.
