FIELD: radiochemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing radon-222 and a radon-222 generator, and can be used to obtain it for use in research work as a radioactive source. The method involves the use of a radium salt, and the radium salt is an acid solution of radium with a volume activity of 15 kBq/ml to 150 kBq/ml, applied to an ion exchange resin placed in a glass capsule located in the generator housing. The radon-222 generator consists of a housing in which there is a capsule containing a source of radon-222. The capsule is made of glass, equipped with a lid with a nylon membrane and fixed with a fluoroplastic sleeve placed in a cylindrical generator housing made of polypropylene, equipped with a sealed cap and a mechanical piston for supplying the air-radon mixture to the analytical system.
EFFECT: possibility of obtaining radon-222 with a given volumetric activity and increasing the radiation safety of the method by simplifying the design of the generator.
